After seeing this banner plastered all over Pinterest recently, i`m giving myself a kick in the butt to get over to the fabric store.  MUST MAKE ONE OF THESE IMMEDIATELY.  It`s a perfect makeshift headboard, don`t you think, not to mention so pretty!  If hubby doesn`t object.  Tee-hee.

Fasionable Laundry

LOVE these pretty frilly laundry bags from India Rose . This would make my almost daily chore enjoyable. Perfect for those of you heading to the laundromat. MUCH better than a plastic laundry basket don't you think?

Monaluna

I'm crushing on so many fabrics at the moment. Gone are the days where I favored french toile in red and yellow....here are the days of hand screen printed cotton.

I don't know what I'll do with all this fabric that I'm crushing on. Buy it. Look at it. Make a pillow. Make curtains. Does it matter really? I could just stack it all together and be happy with it as-is.

Every time I see a new fabric, I hunt down the designer. Don't you think these are pretty? These are from Monaluna.

Sewn Natural

Jen from Canadian Etsy shop Sewn Natural contacted me recently to tell me about their handcrafted, beautiful, and organic picnic blankets. They are absolutely beautiful! She also handcrafts children's bedding, accessories, and apparel, and various other fabric products for kids and babies.

I love that all her products are made with natural fibers, the majority being organic or upcycled. This is so important!

Twinkle Living

I've been flipping through all my decorating books over the last few days, no reason in particular, just mainly because daytime television really sucks...and I happened to pick up my Domino decorating book, which I'll admit I haven't cracked since they went under a few months ago. Yes, I'm one of those trying to preserve it for all eternity. God I miss Domino.

Any-who, for those of you that own a copy, in the back of the book, there is a resource section, which I totally forgot about, which in turn led me to Twinkle Living. Oh my goodness. Where has Twinkle been all my life? I had to share my favorite pieces with you all today. Just beautiful, don't you think?

Twinkle Living comes from Wenlan Chia, a native of Taiwan. Originally established as a women's fashion company in 1999, her original designs has impressed the fashion and design community alike, as well as her devoted customers. Feminine, yet modern pieces, both to wear, and for your home.

Michele Varian

Once again I've been drooling all morning, this time thanks to New Yorker Michele Varian.




Michele grew up helping her parents, along with her 2 sisters (they're triplets!) fixing up the families 100 year old home. She was the artsy one, spending hours upon hours hovering over art and design books, eventually leading her to a career as a fashion designer in NYC upon graduating from Parsons.



Eventually, she started her own home accessory business setting up a storefront on Crosby Street in Soho/NYC. She has grown her business from pillows, to all things on the home accessory front, and also sells wares from other designers as well. She has just started her own handbag collection as well!

I'm so jealous. It has long been a dream of my own to open my own shop somewhere, maybe not in a huge metropolis like NYC, but maybe in a sleepy town during the summer months, allowing me to spend my winters abroad on a beach somewhere. Once can dream right? BUT, never say never.

Apartment Therapy just recently published a house tour of Michele's home in Soho, here are some sneak peaks below, but you can see the full tour at AT here.







Isn't it just divine? I love how Michele has listened to herself, and is doing what she loves to do. It is just so inspiring! Do you have anyone that inspires you like this?

Fab Weekend & Thomas Paul

Did everyone have a good weekend? I sure did. It was spent as I always love to spend it, with good friends, and lots of laughter.

Friday evening was especially entertaining as I observed my darling husband and a few friends build the crib for our bambino to be. I will say, it went MUCH smoother than I thought it would. The wine, beer and Chinese food surely made all the difference!

Saturday afternoon/evening was spent barbecuing with one of my oldest friends from elementary school and her family....so much fun, and I truly enjoying spending time with them. It's amazing how much we still have in common with each other after all these years.

I also had to share with everyone this fab online shop that I bookmarked quite a while ago, but only really had a chance to browse over the weekend. Have you heard of Thomas Paul before? This lucky duckling was born and raised in NYC, starting out as a fashion intern at DKNY. He eventually created his own neck wear collection in the late 90's, leading ultimately to his pillow collection in 2001. You can read his full bio here.

Anthropologie is OPEN in Toronto!

I have been waiting for this all year! Anthopologie just opened their first Canadian store here in Toronto, and the new gorgeous Shops at Don Mills. My first visit to the store (in person) was just this past fall while I was visitnig family in Colorado, and let me tell you it was LOVE at first sight.

Unfortunately, I was unable to make the press preview opening last night due to a staff meeting at my day job, however, i'm hearing that it was well worth the drive.

Hmmmm. Guess what i'm doing this weekend? :-)

Brooklyn Flea

I’ve had a fantasy for about the past 15 years about living in a foreign city. A lot of people have this same dream, but most dream of a Paris Apartment, or a beach house in Thailand. My international residency would be in New York City. Not that I could ever afford it, so I think Brooklyn would be more manageable. Not to mention isn’t Brooklyn THE cool place to be these days? Affordable housing (compared to Manhattan), cool new restaurants, and just an edgier hipper vibe than NYC.

I’ll often visit local websites/blogs written specifically for residents of NYC and the neighbouring boroughs, just to peek into the culture and the lifestyle. Yes, the city that I live, Toronto has it’s own vibe to it, but I must tell you, there is NOTHING like standing in the middle of times square at midnight, any day of the week. There is this energy that I just can’t compare to ANYTHING else.

I was made aware of a new staple in Brooklyn this week, the Brooklyn Flea. An urban outdoor market that takes place every Saturday & Sunday from April to December. The market was launched last spring by friends Eric Demby and Jonathan Butler, who also author the Brooklyn real estate/renovation blog, Brownstoner. With over 150 vendors offering everything from vintage clothing, antiques, collectibles, new jewelry, local artisans, and amazing food, this market is truly one of a kind, unlike any other, anywhere.

Lucky for us, some of their vendors are available online, so we can virtually visit portions of this market any time we’d like, all year round. I will make it to Brooklyn one day however, I surely will.

New Designs from Harlequin {wallpaper & fabric}

More and more, wallpaper is totally growing on me. The patterns that are popping up more and more frequently are sucking me in to the point that I'm actively looking for a used vintage piece of furniture to "re-do" with wallpaper.

I'm still not sold 100% with putting it on my walls, that may take some real convincing.
