Angela Liguori {house tour love and more}

Wow.

Wow, wow, wow.

Most of you know that one of my favorite aspects, or feature of the top design blogs out there are the house tours. I just can't get enough of them. The best part about them? They are REAL home, of REAL people. Ninety-nine percent of the house tours featured on Apartment Therapy and Design*Sponge are those of their own readers. You can't get any better than that.

One that stuck out to me this week was the home of Angela Liguori, featured on Design*Sponge this week.

images from Design*Sponge

Eclectic comes to mind, with a little bit of whimsy thrown in. You see that turquoise stool next to the sofa? I have a bench like that. It's gray. Ick. Boring. Maybe i'll have to paint it turquoise. :-) You can visit the full house tour here.

Angela not only has a beautiful home; she is also a graphic designer, and is extremely talented. Stemming from Rome, Italy her company Carta, Inc. designs custom stationary invitations, business cards, and hand-bound books. She has also just recently added a line of cotton ribbons imported directly from Rome. Bella! Bella!

I also love that fact that she not only makes and designs there beautiful wares, but she also teaches workshops on how to make your own. Don't you just love it when talented artisans share their talent with the rest of us? *sigh*, now I only wish I lived in Boston so I could take a class!

To find out more about Angela, you can read her interview here via the Squam Workshops site here, visit Angela firsthand at her blog here, or her Etsy shop here.

Here are some of my favorite's from here Etsy shop. Happy browsing!

Trying something new, blogging from Word 2007

This is kind of a test post, I'm trying out Word 2007's blogging feature to basically see what it can and cannot do. I have no idea how this is going to work, or even how it's going to work. So far though, I prefer typing out my post in word instead of that tiny little box in Blogger that is like 2 inches x 4 inches – note to blogger, make this box bigger!!! That is my one major pet-peeve about blogger, otherwise I love it.

The DecorAddict Flickr group is growing! We have some new pics uploaded by michelleverd, check them out below (hopefully these pics will upload!)

Thanks Michelle!

(Note - uploading photos from Flickr to Word 2007 doesn't seem to work...hmm....any suggestions anyone? Looks like I'll have to upload photos directly from Blogger, anyone know an easier way from word? I'd rather not store my photos on my hard drive...gotta save space!)

I'm loving her greige walls (yay greige!) and the yellow accents, although i'm not sure if i'd choose yellow personally, however she's used just enough for punch factor.

You can see a full tour of here home via design*sponge as well.

Coastal Living's 2008 Idea House

Every year, Coastal Living magazine feature's an "Idea House". Simply put, they build and create a house from scratch. Well, maybe that's not as simple as it sounds, however the end result is breathtaking.

This year's house is on the shores of Galveston, Texas. Showcasing a nautical cottage style, in neutrals with accents of blue, this house would be the perfect inspiration for any waterside home or cottage in Canada.

Here's just a few samples of the interior, you can see the full house tour and more here.

NEW Flickr Group, DecorAddict's YOUR house

DecorAddict has just opened a new Flickr group, you can visit and join the group here.

The purpose of this new group is to encourage all to upload and share their own personal spaces, whether it be your home, office, or even your backyard, we want to see it! Some of the best design ideas are not always found in decorating magazines, but through word of mouth, in this case by sharing photos with each other.

Happy uploading, and happy friday! I'll be back at the start of the week with lots more for everyone.

Trend Tuesday: Japanese Pop

I'm loving EQ3's Japanese Pop collection of home accessories this fall, adorable, cute, and colourful, any one of these pieces would add just the perfect amount of whimsy to any space.

top row, Japanese punk dolls, $15 ea
middle row, Pick-Up-Sticks Chopstick Set $11/pair, SAKURA Queen Duvet Set $100, Fuji Medium Planter $40 ea
bottom row, Crane Pillow $25, Daishi Decorative Ball (large) $6, KEIO Medium Box $20

These decorative accessories led me on a search for some homes in Asia.....

Does anyone remember the movie Pretty in Pink? Anyone remember Iona's apartment? I LOVED that apartment. It too had hits of Asian influences. So bohemian, so cute!

See what Happy Mundane has to say about the interiors of Pretty in Pink.

If all this is just little too much for you, however you still want to inject some Japanese or Asian style, the easier way to do this is through wall art. Here are some of my personal favorites from Art.com. It doesn't take much, just one piece.

I'm going to stop here, as if I don't I'll be up all night posting photo after photo of amazing ideas for your home with Asian and/or Japanese influences. There are oodles of idea's all over the web, and on various blogs as well. Happy surfing, and feel free to share with us what you found, and what your favorites are!

Design*Sponge is another favorite blog of mine, most notably the before/after, and DIY portion's of the site. It is so inspiring to what people can do with things that would have either been tossed in a dumpster, or would just be plain boring.

I thought i`d share some home inspiration today

I have a thing for new homes. Not just any new home, but those that offer something unique, different, memorable. Not your typical 2 story 4 bedroom colonial with a double garage and a front porch. There must be something different about it for me to be drawn to it. It could be a vaulted ceiling, the front door, or even a kitchen sink that could draw me into such a house, and love it.

Many an evening or lunch-hour is spent online going through house tours on websites such as Apartment Therapy, and Dwell magazine, looking for inspiration, and something different that peeks my interest. I think I’m mentally storing the images I see so that one day when my husband and I do decide to buy a home, I can bring these images and idea’s with me, with my own personal touch of course. I thought I’d share some of my favourite homes with you today that I’ve saved and collected this year.

I love this dresser, obviously hand painted with care
from Wish Magazine

Does your own home inspire you? Would you like to share your home with other DecorAddict readers? I think this is the time that DecorAddict started its own house tour’s, don’t you? If you would like to have your home featured on DecorAddict, please email me (decoraddict@gmail.com) a photo or two of your home (interior and/or exterior), and a paragraph or 2 on why your home inspires you, and what you have done to achieve that inspiration.

I’ll feature as many as I can, all depending on how many I receive of course. Wow. This is exciting !!! Our own house tours. Cool !!!

If you too are a house-tour addict, Apartment Therapy has a few posted each week!

I never thought I'd enjoy chartreuse on a chair, but this works
