fabulous fabulous

It's been a bit chilly the past two days. I may have to break out my teapot. But only if I have this mug cozy. I don't think I could enjoy another hot beverage unless I have one of these.

yellow. gray. white.

I've started building an inspiration folder for our new bedroom in our new place with it's newly painted white walls. At least I hope they're white. Let's pray they're not cream. Or beige. They looked white when we looked at the place. But you know how it is once you get in there. It's not white enough.

Any-who. Here's a sample of some of the things I've been collecting over the past few weeks. Yup, you guessed it, it looks like yellow gray and white are the official color scheme.

1. duvet set, Bliss Living Home
2. window panels, Anthropologie
3. blankets, Toast UK
4. throw pillows, Dwell Studio, Toast UK
5. night stand, CB2
6. carpet tiles, FLOR

I'm not 100% sure about the nightstand. I have an old antique stool that I picked up for $5 at an antique fair about 10 years ago that would hold my blackberry, which is really all I need next to me at night for the moment. Thankfully, the stool was already painted gray when I bought it, but it looks about a bazillion years old. I love this stool, and I curse my hubby every time he wants to throw it out. No, you can't sit on the thing, but it's still gorgeous.

I've fallen in love with this embroidered piece by White Nest as well, I think this would be perfect above my ancient gray stool.

What's your thoughts on this color scheme I've chosen? This is different for me, as I usually stay away from yellow in every aspect of the word, but I'm really looking for something a bit edgy, but warm at the same time. I think the gray will cut the intensity, and make hubby happy at the same time.

If you had the opportunity to redo your bedroom, what color scheme would you choose?

I've been scouring Etsy the past little bit looking for some artwork for our new bedroom. Something simple, not too girly, maybe a bit masculine even.

What do you think of these pieces from White Nest? I love her style and the patterns, but not the colors. I'm thinking more whites, grays and blacks, maybe with a kick of yellow thrown in somewhere.

I know this necklace has absolutely nothing to do with our bedroom, but I like it just the same.

catching zzzzzzzzz's

So it's official, we are moving into the exact same apartment we have now, only 2 floors above us.

There is some sense of relief in that, as I know what I'm working with in regards to space, and I won't have to worry about furniture layout.

What we do have however, is blank white walls. Hmmmm. I used to think this was a bad thing, but now I'm thinking otherwise. We have the OK to paint if we like, but for the sake of saving a few bucks, we may just leave it alone.

What do you guys think? Am I taking the easy way out if I leave our bedroom white? Should I only pain the wall the bed it on? What have you done in your own rental space?

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this. It's going to be a bit strange for me living in the exact same apartment, but different. Very surreal.

apartment update

It looks like we may have found "the place", only 2 floors above us, and a flip of our current layout.

The benefit of this is we don't have to rent a moving truck. The problem with this place is the disgusting carpet that the current tenant has totally wreaked.

We haven't signed on the dotted line yet, we're still "negotiating", but we're really really really really hoping that they either replace the carpet, or install laminate.

I vote for laminate. For their sake it just makes more sense. Less maintenance, easier to clean, lasts longer, and they'll have VERY HAPPY tenants. Sure I prefer hardwood all the way, but it's not my place and I can live with laminate.

Cross your fingers for us.
