Best of '09: Modern Karibou {Canadian Eh!}

From February 3rd, 2009.....

Just a little shout out to Modern Karibou, and a thank you for being a sponsor with DecorAddict this year!

For my fellow Canadians, I'm sure you are all too aware that finding those oh so coveted furniture pieces from a Canadian shopping resource is difficult at best. Enter Modern Karibou onto the retail scene, and we have attainable interior pieces for us all - sold here in Canada!

The founders of the store, Lise and Carole, were tired of looking south of the border when it came to online shopping for their homes and thought they could help fill this gap in Canada. You can read all about them here.

Modern Kariblou features established and new designers, some of which are eco-friendly, including Amenity, LoooLo, Iannone Design, FLUF Design, and Palau, just to name a handful.

Here are a handful of my personal favorites that I'm currently drooling over. Yay to Canadian Interior Retailers Modern Karibou!

1. DwellStudio CHARLOTTE Multi Storage Bin, $92
2. DwellStudio GARDEN Blossom Duvet Set, from $189
3. OFFI JIM Barstool 24, $299
4. ferm LIVING Birds on Branches No. 140 Wallpaper, $164

1. Gus* Modern Carter Sectional, $3499
2. Gus* Modern Pawn Stool, $450
3. Poof Lounge - Silver, $268
4. Sleepytime Rocker, $1085

They also have a fantastic kid and baby section....carrying everything from Dwell Home, to Ferm Living! Yay for Modern Karibou!!!

6 months & Happy Holidays!!!

Can you believe it? I can't. Little Addy is already 6 months old this week. Wow. How time flies, and I can't believe how much she's changed in such a short time

The Olympic Torch relay made it's way through our neighbourhood this weekend, so we decked out Addy in her patriotic best! We can't wait for the games to start!

Merry Christmas everyone, I'll be posting sporadically until January 1st with some "Best of '09" posts, and to say hello!

Best of '09: Vintage Lace Shades {Nice}

From March 16th, 2009 .....

I'm falling in love with these vintage lace and doily shades from Etsy seller Nice (Caitlin Holcomb) . So pretty. So dainty. Love it.

These make me want a little girl so I can have one. I don't think my husband would like these very much.

Caitlin also makes beautiful wood burnings and paintings, and has a fabulous collection of vintage home decor and dishware!

Visit Caitlin's Etsy store here, and she has a blog too that you can visit here!

Service Interrupted

For some BIZARRE and INSANE reason, we are still having major connectivity issues with our ISP. Looks like we're going to have to call in the big guns to have a peek at it, meaning I may be M.I.A for longer that I expected and hoped.

This may be a blessing in disguise however, as I have sooo much that needs to be done over the next few days with Christmas only 2 weeks away! OMG!

Let's hope my issue is fixed by Monday, I have so much to show you guys with the DecorAddict Gift Guide!!! I can't wait!

Apology.....

I have to apologize for the delay in my Gift Guide this week, our Internet connection has been very sporadic, crashing every 2-3 minutes, making it very frustrating to post anything over 100 characters.

I'm hoping once this storm hitting my city passes, service will improve!

I miss you guys!

Rice Denmark

No, not really rice, the stuff you eat, I'm referring to Rice DK. Rice sources and produces all their products with a clear conscience; all products are designed and developed in Denmark, and are produced in the third world with respect for people, ensuring all their staff are treated properly with respect, and without discrimination.

I am IN LOVE with this product line. IN LOVE. Such pretty things from teacups, to carpets, to bedspreads and so much more! Did I mention I was IN LOVE with this shop?

You can read their full story on their website, and even this history of their name! Their products are also available at a few retail shops here in Canada. YAY!

Day 5 .....

Buying a gift for you mom can be a toughie, especially when they have most everything. My own mom is relatively easy to buy for, i'm really lucky that way.

My mom's a travel nut, like a lot of individual's of her "experience" I suppose. I know she would absolutely LOVE this super cute set of luggage by Orla Kiely. Actually, i'd LOVE a set myself.

Day 4 .....

Most, if not all of my blogging friends would absolutely love this book, Blogging for Bliss by Tara Frey of the blog Typing Out Loud.

This book is full of beautiful examples of many creative blogs out there, and is not only full of ideas to inspire you, but provides some great insight into the world of blogging, and why it has become such a huge medium for people all over the world.

Most bloggers spend at least an hour, if not several hours in front of their computers each day, at all times of the day, and sometimes weird hours of the night. The one thing that is always with me when I'm blogging? My favorite mug. It's full of coffee in the mornings, green tea in the afternoon's, and sleepy time tea before I go to bed. Everyone, especially bloggers, need a favorite mug.

tree trunk mug, Anthropologie

rainy monday mug, Anthropologie

can't stand the heat mug, by Keep Calm Gallery

hot cocoa mug, by White Forest Pottery

As a blogger, a new pack of sticky notes would be great too. :-)
