Inspired Friday {Tea for Joy}

I was sifting through my 8 billion saved blogs via Google Reader this morning, and this photo totally caught my eye.

It makes me think and feel SPRING is here. To stay. thank goodness. Yes, I know it's a bit late to say that, since however it's almost June, but after the crazy insane winter we've had here in the Toronto area, it is so refreshing to see green grass and fresh blooms again.

This photo has made me think of the weeks to come, and how I'm hoping to enjoy them at home in the weeks preceding our new arrival. Thanks this this photo, I'm on the hunt for some vintage glass bottles and jars to hold wildflowers that will only surely make my day. I love waking up to fresh flowers, don't you?

Isn't this flower arrangement sublime? I sometimes wish we had a country house or cottage so we could host outdoor parties like these I found in County Living Magazine (online)

Do you have a country home or cottage to escape too on the weekends or year round? If you do, I'd LOVE to see it! Did you know that DecorAddict has a Flickr Group? Feel free to upload photos of your own home, cottage, or country retreat there for all to see! Or anything else in your home as well.

Obsessing over Chronicle Books

My new favorite site of the month is most definitely Chronicle Books. LOVE their selections, and the products, really can't ask for anything more. I'm bookmarking these for my quarterly book binge!

Wallpaper Projects , By Derek Fagerstrom and Lauren Smith
...because you know me....I'm starting to really enjoy Wallpaper, but not on walls! This looks like a great book for alternate uses.

Fab Weekend & Thomas Paul

Did everyone have a good weekend? I sure did. It was spent as I always love to spend it, with good friends, and lots of laughter.

Friday evening was especially entertaining as I observed my darling husband and a few friends build the crib for our bambino to be. I will say, it went MUCH smoother than I thought it would. The wine, beer and Chinese food surely made all the difference!

Saturday afternoon/evening was spent barbecuing with one of my oldest friends from elementary school and her family....so much fun, and I truly enjoying spending time with them. It's amazing how much we still have in common with each other after all these years.

I also had to share with everyone this fab online shop that I bookmarked quite a while ago, but only really had a chance to browse over the weekend. Have you heard of Thomas Paul before? This lucky duckling was born and raised in NYC, starting out as a fashion intern at DKNY. He eventually created his own neck wear collection in the late 90's, leading ultimately to his pillow collection in 2001. You can read his full bio here.

He also has an absolutely beautiful stationary collection:

more....to keep or not to keep....

As I told everyone yesterday, I'm considering tossing our armoire/wardrobe that is giant sized and bulky and huge.

Here are some pics of the monster I've been lugging around for the past 9 years.

What do you think? Is it worthy of a paint job that I talked about here yesterday?

Helena Christensen at Home {via The Selby}

OMG. Talk about ENVY in every way possible. Not only is she absolutely beautiful, but so is her home. Wow.

See more pics over at The Selby, as seen in the May issue of Paris Vogue.

Teo Jasmin

I received an email this week from french interior design company Teo Jasmin. Based in Paris, they digitally screen print various photographic images on fabric and/or canvas to create the most amazing wall canvases, cushions, and even on furniture!

Brilliant idea, don't you think?

To keep or not to keep?

I've lugged my wardrobe/armoire around for the past 9 years. Through 5 moves. It's held up well, but I admit, it may be time to throw in the towel and give it up to someone who has the space. It was gifted to me by a friend, and isn't really worth anything, but it's totally functional.

You see, it's HUGE. Hence, the hesitation to toss it...it holds so much stuff! It's also still holding on to it's original stain, which isn't too pretty anymore.

I had a thought today however, about painting it RED. Like fire-engine red, and keeping it in the baby's room. Something along these lines (see below). What do you think?

Making it your own: Rollout Wallpaper

My dislike for wallpaper is almost nonexistent these days. Especially when companies like Rollout exist.

They're not exactly new, popping up in 2005 as a creative studio that designs and digitally prints custom, yes CUSTOM wallpaper designs by the square foot.

"Recruiting community-based artists and designers, Rollout is constantly on the hunt for exciting ideas from any inspiration. Illustration, photography, graphic design, and industrial design provide the inspiration; the walls provide the medium."

Brilliant idea, don't you think?

Mudpuppy {Etsy Love}

Spring is in the air....well, at least it is here in Toronto. It's raining again today making it feel all mucky and icky. Although I'll be perfectly honest, it's also on days like today that I wish I had a patio, balcony or even a small lawn. Not having one of these forces me to get outside, which is definitely a good thing.

I've never really been a plant or flower person. I kill anything that's ever been given to me, not for lack of trying, I just don't have that knack for growing things, or even keeping things alive. I'm starting to think that I may have to give the plant/flower thing another shot, as the apartment is feeling a little bit too 'hard' if that makes any sense. I feel as if some plants in the house would help to soften up our apartment, and maybe give us some more much needed oxygen as well!

This if course has led me on the hunt for vases, pots and planters. You can't have plants without them, and if I am going to do this, it's going to look good!

My search led me to Etsy of course, and I found Mudpuppy, aka, Michael McDowell, from Denver, Colorado. Michael is so talented, making vases, sculptures, and lots of other items from clay. He has been true to his heart, and is following his dream of being a ceramic artist, and I must say he's doing an amazing job! It's tough to make that step, isn't it? You can read more about Michael on his website here.

Lighting Up The Bedroom!

Gotcha with the title of this post? Tee-hee!

I don't know about other condo dwellers out there, but I have a serious problem in our condo.

Lighting.

Or, lack of it I should say. The only ceiling lights in our condo are in the bathrooms, kitchen, dining, and foyer. The living room, and both bedrooms are pitch black! Who does this? I don't get it. Apparently, in new condo and new home builds, I've heard that ceiling fixtures in these rooms are optional? Is this true? It's a bit silly, don't you think?

The only, and I mean ONLY benefit to this problem, is I get to go shopping, once again, for more cool stuff, not only for the master bedroom, but for the babies room as well.

I've been perusing the online world for some ideas, and have found some amazing pieces. Have a look below, tell me what you think!

I've started my search with Ikea (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, & 8), & Urban Outfitters (5 & 10), 2 of my favorite shops, this is what I'm thinking. Although I'll probably change my mind 42 times before I actually purchase something. Now, keep in mind that all these selections I'm thinking of for either the babies room, or for our room. I think the floor lamp would be more suitable for the babies room, don't you think? Hmmm. Table lamps for the master? Hmmm.

Wrapping Up!

Did everyone have a good week this week? I know I did, although any week would have been better than last week. What's everyone got planned for this weekend?

My mom is throwing my baby shower this weekend, which should be fun. There are 2 cases of wine involved, but unfortunately I won't be for taking in THOSE festivities. I'll stick with my ice-tea thank you very much.

Friday's seem to be a day for wrapping up, so I thought I'd share some of my favorite blog posts with you today, both from DecorAddict, and other's that I follow frequently. Have an awesome weekend everyone!

I wish you all a pleasant and wonderfully relaxing weekend, more importantly, get outside everyone!!!!! Well, if the weather is nice of course. We'll see you on Monday!
